What if the Spanish Flu outbreak [1918-1920] never happened, and could it have not happened? Presumably for it not to happen something has to change about World War One as this believed to the the cause isn't it? Would a shorter war have prevented it, perhaps Germany never marches thought Belgium and brings Britain and then the US into the war and so the war is quicker and end in a Central Powers victory, or is there a way for the allies to still win and the outbreak have not happened? What about future medical practices, would they change much without the epidemic? Would we be slightly between in healthcare? What do you think?

The H1N1 type of Influenza A virus was the cause. WW1 may have accelerated the spread, but eliminating WW1 hardly ensures the pandemic does not occur.

Was it just inevitable then, no possible way it could of been avoided, just waiting in the wings
Although if World war One did help it then it the war was shorter or not as traumatic could the flu pop up at a venerable moment in history, e.g. WW2 or at least the buildup to WW2
However this article, https://news.nationalgeographic.com...u-1918-china-origins-pandemic-science-health/, states that it started because of Chinese people moving to Europe, so perhaps if this was stopped for some reason then it may not have been so bad, might of been concentrated in China, if this happened would anything change

Rapid evolution of flu virus into particularly deadly strain was facilitated by the trench warfare conditions (i.e. crowded military hospitals resulting in preferential transmission of the deadlier strains of flu). Therefore, less war or more rapid war may have averted flu pandemic.

Is the point of the thread what if the flu never happened or what could be done to prevent it from rising?

I’m not sure if an absent Spanish flu could help the Central Powers...
