One question that has intrigued me over the years is what if the Soviets survived amid massive Bolshevik oppression somehow, and deposed Lenin and his Bolshevik Party?
A truly democratic socialist state, in my mind, would be the result. No Stalin or gulags. No banning of freedom of speech and other such freedoms.
Religion would still be banned, or severely restricted, yet I'm sure corruption would be practically non-existent. Central planning would be democratically run by workers, etc.
Lets also butterfly away all those right wing morons who think communism is evil even in the 21st century.
