What if: The Social Credit Party of Canada wins the 1935 Election?

Thus is borderline ASB, of course, but seeing how Bible Bill never could implement his truly radical populist policies on the grounds that the Province of Alberta could constitutionally not wield the power of credit and currency needed (only Parliament could), what if the Socreds were successful in actually obtaining the Prime Minister's office?

It would be interesting to see if this has the effect of making the British Social Credit movement a viable political contender.

Against Mackenzie King? Ha! The man was probably the best politician of the 20th century Anglosphere. So he needs to die.

I think ideological-based parties never do well in the UK because of how class identity plays such a part in voting: too many people vote based on what their parties are rather than what they believe. The bloke who founded Social Credit, who was British, understood this and argued that the best way to promote his ideas was to do it from within the established parties.

Mosley was interested in Social Credit, perhaps if he stays in an establishment party...?

Sure, though that's a challenge in itself given Mosley's character. If you're not already familiar with it, though, check out EdT's excellent timeline "A Greater Britain" in which Mosley enters parliament a few years earlier, sticks with Labour, manages to push his own ideas within the party and eventually becomes Prime Minister.

How the heck would he get elected nationally?
Basically, SocCred was strong in 3 places Alberta, BC and (after WWII) Quebec. The western and Québecois provincial parties had strong disagreements in policy and socials.
I think they never elected a single member from Ontario, and it's hard to see how they would. Let alone the Maritimes.
