What if the Ottomans discovered and colonized the Americas instead of the Europeans?

what if the Spanish spurned Christopher Columbus, and he sailed to Constantinople and offered his services to the Sultan, who accepted?

Then, as Kristof Kolomb Pasha, he discovered the island of Sultaniola, and founded the settlement of Yenikonstantiniyye?

Not really possible but okay...

The Ottomans come in contact with the Mesoamerican civilisations. The try to trade with them. The small Caribbean Islands are either penal colonies or pirate ouposts, depending on if other states are active afterwards as well. Most settlers are Maghrebis. And even that is very low in numbers. Possibly less dead Native Americans than OTL as inoculation is introduced.

As I said, not possible as the Ottomans have no desire to sail West but this what would happen, IF.

Dude, your paralleism are almost butterfly genocide, please thing in those.

As @Koprulu Mustafa Pasha say, the thing is Ottomans have a barrier they need to cross an hostile medditeranean first and if for example they got andalus for their mission...they will be mostly traders and like @Planet of Hats showed in his timeline, they will be slowly islamizing showing about islam and what is wrong their paganism.

Except Aztecs...nobody like Aztecs here it seems...

Huh? I didn’t say anything about genocide anywhere...and I do not condone or support it.

I’m just curious what would have happened if Colombus had sailed under the Ottoman flag instead of the Spanish one.

IIRC, colombus proposed it first to italian, princes, france, england and them spanish, nobody mentioned the ottomans, but if they got interested, the thing is if not he reach..is that ottomans would have spain as a shield against any colonization effort. Specially when gold is found
It was said that Columbus did offer his service to Bayezid II. Not sure if it is true but Bayezid II was not impressed.

Well yes, that's other 50% of the problem. Which can be prevented if Granada was preserved. But saving Granada is no longer an option after abandoning Italy.

I agree that they'd likely be migrating there slowly, in low numbers, even just down to geography. If it's all being administered from the Caribbean, that city could develop a population of Muslims that lasts through European colonization, maybe even being ruled by some European power for a while. They'd be migrants from across the Atlantic, and their descendants, as well as local converts, and eventually ex-slave or other trans-Atlantic converts. When the European Christians show up in larger numbers, they move to this one place from the penal colonies, trading posts, pirate lairs, and sugar islands.

ok first the ottoman do not have the type of ships that are required to sail to the Americas. Secondly for that to happen then the reconquista has to of been a failure and ottoman empire need to stretch to the Iberian peninsula otherwise sorry not possible.

If this did happen, then Bayezid II is a smarter man than most people thought him to be, seeing as Columbus was the dumbass who went about trying to find a sea route to India and found Newfoundland instead.

You'd need a Maghreb-based Islamic power to properly colonise the Americas before Euro-Christians sail there en-masse, so either a stronger Morocco, Al-Andalus, Mali, or *Abbasids.
Hehe.

Earlier Ottomans domination of Western Mediterranean might allow them to sail to the Americas - at least Gibraltar must be retained, Andalusia (the province), etc.
Having no Timur so Constantinople falls in 1404/1405 and the Ottomans cross to Naples by 1450 would be possible too but it's too much of an Ottowank even for me lol.
