So recently I was watching TV and the movie Air Force One was on AMC.

Anyways it got me to thinking, what if a similar situation actually happened in the mid to late 90's?

This means that:

-a rogue former Soviet republic unilaterally begins military aggression in its own neighborhood and then the leader of that country is apprehended by US forces and placed in Russian custody. In the movie it was Kasakhstan, which according to the movie had a massive nuclear arsenal at its disposal(dunno how accurate this was at the time though).

-Extremists from said country with help from a corrupt secret service agent seize Airforce One and take the president, his family, and a large number of government officials/employees hostage.

-elements from the same country attempt to assist the terrorists by sending migs to intercept the plane, and sending troops to escort their psychotic leader from the prison after the Russian president agrees to release him.

-the US cabinet attempts to have the POTUS deemed incapable of discharging his duties due to the situation

-said psychotic leader is killed while attempting to escape from prison

-the plane is retaken and the terrorists are killed, and the offending migs are intercepted and destroyed by US forces.

So lets assume that such events happen, this means that the POTUS is Clinton, and his Russian counterpart is Yeltsin, and the VP is Gore. What do you think the events following the crisis will look like? Will there be a joint US Russian curbstomping of Kasakstan(or whatever country it is)?

Also lets assume that only the events leading up to the events of the movie have happened(i.e. the terrorists seize the plane, and that's it). What do you think the main actors in this situation will do as compaired to how they acted in the movie?
