What if the M1 Garand used the .276 Pederson round instead of 30 cal. in WW2?

That's a relative opinion, I use to own a SMLE MK III* made in 1917, while a fine weapon it wasn't appreciatively lighter or handier than a M-1 Garrard IMO, and the sights were very small and difficult to see especially in bright direct sunlight. I much prefer the peep sights on the Garrard.

The No4 Lee Enfield had much better sights than the MKIII and though its a personal thing I think the No4 had better sights than the Garand.

Garands in .276 are apparently much nicer to shoot than an M1 in 30-06 and easier for a semi trained conscript to hit something smaller than an Elephant at 100 yards.
