Shortly before the broadcast of the Japanese surrender by the Hirohito, a group of officers led by Major Kenji Hatanaka attempted a coup against the emperor in order to prevent the surrender.

However, despite gaining control of the Imperial Palace, the members of the coup were unable to find the recording of the surrender announcement, and were unable to convince other units in the city to aid in the coup partly due to several high ranking officers agreeing as a group not to launch a coup.

However, let's say that this meeting did not happen and the coup succeeds, how might this have changed the final days of the war?
