Okay, so most people are unfamiliar with the Jacobite rising and its effects on the politics of the British Isles. Basically, what happened was that the English parliament tried to oust king James VII from his throne and appoint some Dutch protestant as his replacement. It resulted in a huge war between loyalist Scotland and the English rebels, which the loyalist Jacobites won.
But what if the Jacobites failed? Would the Dual Monarchy still exist? Would the British Isles still be English-dominated? Would the Irish rebel because of the new Protestant monarch, and could Ireland even become the domain of the House of Stuart-in-exile? Or would history be pretty similar to our own?
