What if the Germanic tribes never converted to christianity

Not a Single one? Might require a pre-Constantine PoD.

Agreed for several reasons.

  1. By the time of Constantine, Christian missionaries were having success among the Goths.
  2. Once Rome converts, it becomes very tempting for one Germanic tribe to convert and then turn to Rome, saying, 'Hey, we are Christians. Those pagans are attacking us.'
  3. Germanic tribes invading Western Europe are not large enough to assimilate the existing Roman populations. It is inevitable that they will pick up parts of Roman culture.

You would need some pre-Constantine the Great POD before you can keep Germanic tribes pagan. Once Rome is becoming Christian nation, it is pretty difficult if not impossible stop spreading of Christianity among Germanic tribes.

So keeping Germans as pagans you have wipe Christianity totally off (never exist or Romans are more succesful on persecution) or at least Christianity remain as very small religion. And if you accomplish this, you can write almost whatever you want. This would cause great butterflies.
