What if the Fyre Festival has been successful?

Having just watched Fyre Fraud, the Hulu documentary on the debacle, and looking to skim watch the Netflix one as well, it makes me wonder what happened if the festival had gone with adequate planning and time.

Does Billy McFarland create the new Coachella-Burning Man, a Woodstock for the rich influencers of Instagram? Or is he inevitably going to screw it up through his inherent scumminess and propensity to scam? Is Ja Rule’s career revitalized by the project? Do a lot of IG social media profiteers likewise have a good time without learning their lesson? What are the ramifications for the Bahamian government?

Pigs fly.

I think it could work but it would take a LOT of changes. Bear in mind I have not watched the documentary yet but have viewed some YouTube analyses on it.

For one thing, they would need to be going in with the mindset of actually making it happen. It’s unclear if it began life as a scam or not, so to begin it needs to definitely be legit.

Next the planners need to begin with more time to organize. A key flaw was rushing it to several months when everything they wanted would take years. Additionally there needs to be balancing budget plans-ticket costs should be higher to cover necessary accommodations and the promised accommodations should not be as lavish as they were made out to be originally.

Booking people needed to be done with contracts and ideally at least some influencers they hired to promote the event need to come attend. The whole “no money” aspect of Fyre Fest also should be dropped.

With these steps it could’ve been a success. However it needs to have better planning and good intentions to begin with.

He was an incompotent who wanted to live the big life but utterly lacked the know how or finacial acumen to pull off his vision. He was so deep in short term debt and had wasted money on so many frivolous things from giant offices to overpaying instagram influencers. He was a con at worst a shorted sighted business failure at best. The guy at the head needed to go.
