What if The First Battle of the Marne, 1914 was lost

What if The First Battle of the Marne, 1914 was lost.
So the French lost the First Battle of the Marne how would the war changed . Would the French fight on or would it be another Victory like the Franco - Prussian War . With the French knocked out of the War what would the British and Russians do .

Some background events.

  • Mauberge fell on Sept 6 and the 420mm big Berthas began to be deployed to Antwerp.
  • I believe that the OHL has designated Sept 9 as a rest day for the troops, but the enemy intervened. So if the Germans win, regardless of how, they will need this rest day which will also allow the railheads to move closer to the front.
  • The Belgian Army conducted a sortie from Antwerp on the 9th of Sept, the Germans recalled 3 divisions to contain it and it withdrew by the 13th.

bump The French were not able to use their Taxis to move the troops to the fount as the did .

I'm not sure the Germans can win the Battle of the Marne. Not without finding an army to plug the gap.

They might be able to redeploy quicker to hold their positions for a few days and win a second battle. Especially if the Entente air reconnaissance if ineffective and the attack is against the Germans rather than into the gap.
