What if the capital of the CSA is in Montgomery,Alabama?

As the question says, what if? I believe there was a chance for it to be in Montgomery, but then Virginia seceded and Richmond was made the capital. Obviously, if the capital was in Montgomery then there would have been more emphasis on the Mississippi theater. But what would this mean? Would it mean the war ends sooner or later? Who would even win? So yeah...guess!

If the capital was in Montgomery I think they may have taken a more defensive stance, which delays the Union less, leading to a shorter war.

Virginia's price of admission was getting the capital of the nation. If it stays in Montgomery and Virginia does not secede the ACW is over by 1863 when a Union push from New Orleans takes Montgomery while another from Chattanooga or Atlanta breaks the back of the Confederacy.

IIRC the Confederate government did not like Montgomery anyway and did not see it as a city fit to be a capital; particularly they felt it was unfit to host European dignitaries.

I don't think it would have been a shorter war unless Virginia didn't succeed. It would have meant better confederate generals in the west around the Mississippi. More confederates in Vicksburg might mean the confederates win there. It would be harder to supply the main union armies as well because they would have to march much further to get to the confederate armies.

Someone needs to write a story on the reactions of foreigners to that capital.
