What if the Acadians weren't expelled from Nova Scotia?

Well, the guy who ordered the expulsion was overstepping his instruction, so it would be totally plausible for the expulsion not to take place.

My guess is that alt-NewBrunswick is even more heavily francophone and that alt-Canada would be too. The Quebecois might find it harder to maintain the claim that they ARE the french nation in Canada.

There were already French speakers in Louisiana, and the number of Acadians who went there is often overstated, so I don't know how much difference it would make, except that the name 'Cajun' wouldn't be used!

Interesting premise... two distinct Francophone cultures in British North America... probably Nova Scotia wouldn't have New Brunswick hived off, though the NW of the territory would become part of the Acadian jurisdiction. Bay of Fundy could become a much more important commercial zone if it wasn't split between two jurisdictions...

At Confederation (no reason for it to effect some sort of ACW happening, leading to union of remaining British territories) you'd have more french polities to balance the english ones... maybe Quebec itself doesn't enter as one unit, but an eastern one based on Quebec City and a western on Montreal... hmmm... could be that overall much smaller political units, like US States rather than the few small Maritime provinces and the big Upper & Lower Canadas that happend OTL...
