What if Tabun (nerve agent) discovered in 1902?

To Hitler's disappointment Ambros replied, "I have justified reasons to assume that tabun, too, is known abroad. I know that tabun was publicized as early as 1902, that Sarin was patented and that these substances appeared in patents. (...) Ambros was informing Hitler of an extraordinary fact about one of Germany's most secret weapons. The essential nature of tabun and sarin had already been disclosed in the technical journals as far back as 1902.
Joseph Borkin, The Crime and Punishment of IG Farben

Now an extensive search of the scientific literature over the period 1896 to 1911 conducted by experts failed to reveal any report of Tabun’s existence or mention of any such highly toxic chemicals.

But what would have happened if tabun as an insecticide was discovered in 1902 ? Assuming World War I still happens as OTL but this time with nerve gas. Would anything significantly change?

Very, very ugly. You'd have a somewhat persistent agent that can be absorbed through the skin, and accumulate within the body to lethal levels over time. Gas masks aren't going to help much here.

It seems atropine was isolated at this point already, so in theory there could be a treatment for exposure, if they were lucky.

Germany uses it as a weapon in WW1.
If the Entente/Allies still win then Versailles is even harsher: Probably do expect to see Germany split back up into a number of separate states, and its chemical industry destroyed, in TTL...

Going off on a different tangent from the chemical warfare side of things..
Nerve agents made for really effective insecticides, and this has some implications.

Early development (and, presumably, use) of Tabun means increased agricultural yields, greater exploitation of tropical environments, etc. I can easily imagine tabun being brought to Panama to fight yellow fever among the construction workers. I don't necessarily see tabun being used quite as much as DDT was used in the '50s, at least not in 1902-1914 - insecticide took on political implications in the 1950s and 1960s (feeding the Third World to prevent the spread of Communism there, not to mention the metaphoric resonance of fighting 'antlike Communism') that it wouldn't here, and tabun might be too expensive for many farmers. Further, tabun sprayed in 1902 would be less effective than DDT sprayed in 1943, simply because the former would be delivered much more haphazardly than the latter. Still, it is something to consider - earlier end to malaria in the US & Europe? Greater exploitation of Burma, Indochina, and other tropical regions?

The french discover Tabun's use as a weapon first when they accidentally kill all their workers with it? :p
