What If Shaul Mofaz Had Won the 2008 Kadima primary?

Would he have been able to form a coalition? How would he have handled Operation Cast Lead? How would peace talks with the Palestinians and Syria work out? And what would be the results of the 2010 Israeli parliamentary elections?

For Kadima to form a coalition, they would need to willingly submit to a long list of extortive demands from the religious parties. If they do that, then their secular partners on the left break away. Kadima are already fatally damaged because of the 2006 war and the disgrace of both Olmert and Katsav, plus public opinion shifting rightwards. I don't see the 2009 election turning out much differently than OTL.

I think Mofaz would have been able to form a coalition, though, since he had close ties with the religious parties (partially due to his Mizrahi origin) and since he opposes dividing Jerusalem. Thus, the elections would have likely been held in 2010, not in 2009. What are the odds of Mofaz successfully pushing through a peace treaty during his two years in office? And what would this peace treaty look like, if he is successful?
