What If Shakerism Had Gained a Foothold in the Southern US?

Apart from two Kentucky communes near which somehow lasted to 1922, this was strictly a Northern US phenom. Among other obstacles were their strict antislavery and pacifism stances and, even in those chaotic times between the War of 1812 and the US Civil War, I seriously doubt many folks relished the idea of lifelong celibacy or considered that the Endtimes were nigh in this part of the country. Could there have been a permanent Shaker presence lasting to the 21st Century despite all this?
