In OTL, President Dwight D. Eisenhower ("Ike") suffered a serious heart attack in 1955, but recovered and won a landslide relection in 1956. On November 25, 1957, Ike suffered a mild stroke in the Oval Office.

What if President Eisenhower's stroke had been far more severe and he died within a few days? How would the young President Nixon (just shy of his 45th birthday) handle the various international, domestic, and political events of the late 1950s? Who would Nixon pick to be his running mate in 1960? Would an incumbent President Nixon win in 1960 (after which he would be term-limited in 1964)? Would JFK still run in 1960 or would someone else be the Democratic nominee? Would some version of the 25th Amendment--concerning presidential disability, and the presidential appointment of a vice-president in the event that office was vacant--be enacted almost a decade earlier?
