In this era in OTL, Portugal and Castille fought once or twice, for relatively short periods. They were rivals and competitors, but expanded mostly in different directions.

However, what if they had a much more intensive rivalry, leading to a war in which the stakes were all Macaronesia and all extra-European trade routes (the Americas and Cape), which side would have been more likely to have won?

Would it have varied by decade? If so, how?

Could lengthy fighting between the Iberians overseas and on the peninsula given their overseas victims any more options or leverage?

If such a war were less of a total blow-out in its outcome, what other dividing lines would have been most plausible besides the Tordesillas and Zaragoza meridians?
