What if Pedro II of Brazil son Afonso lives

What would happen if Pedro II son Afonso, Prince Imperial of Brazil who in OTL died at age two from epilepsy instead manged to survive, would Pedro II have desire to keep the Brazil Empire as it is when the Republican coup happens in 1889 or will a coup never happen at all because Afonso menages to live.

If Alfonso have not epilepsy or other illnesses all, Pedro II has much more desire to future of Brazil monarchy. Probably there wouldn't be even coup attempt on 1889.

So we would have Pedro III ore Alfonso I, wonder what Brazil is going to do in the Great War, if Portugal joins the allies then i can assume Brazil will join as well.

I don't see any reason why Brazil would join to Great War. Probably it just is officially neutral altough it might be leaned towards Entente.

Also how would the Empire of Brazil react to the Portugal revolution of 1910 which saw the overthrow of Portugal monarchy, would be nice to see a Minas Geraes-class battleship of the Imperial Brazilian Navy arrive to pick up the former king of Portugal.

I don't think it isn't necessarily probable that it won't fall, as the whole military and slavery issues will likely still happen.

Anyway, I call breaking the Braganza Curse ASB.

What would that curse be.

That the monarch's eldest son/heir will die before he does. Here.

However, there's a way to get around it without it being ASB. It says that the monarch's son will not be able to ascend the throne. Pedro Affonso Pedro can live long enough to sire issue (assuming he's more like sister Leopoldina than Isabel), and still die before his dad. Pedro died in 1891, Leopoldina's eldest son was born in 1866. The curse says nothing about grandsons, so if Affonso Pedro has a son in the late 1860s, early 1870s, then dies in the 1880s, it keeps the curse in place, just sidesteps it.

Poor family.
