what would the political future of the DR hold?

i know this is obscure but calling on all latin americanists and cold warriors here.

in summary LBJ ordered the invasion because of a revolt by officers seeking to restore Juan Bosch, a social democrat who had been elected president, to power after he was ousted in a coup.

the US feared the pro bosch rebels were infiltrated by castroite communists. the us invaded, supported by a few latin american countries (all dictatorships), halted the rebels and held an election that the conserative candidate Joaquin Balaguer won, and tgen troops withdrew.

Balaguer was reelected into the 1970s. However Bosch was elected and served a term on the same schedule as Jimmy Carter. the Balaguer made an electoral comwback in the early 1980s.

notably, Bosch's term in the 70s was not marked by communism, civil waror anything geopolitically eventful or frightening to the US.

so if the US had not bothered intervening in 1965, what would have happened to the DR, a center-dright, center-left or a marxist leninist regime?
