What if no Pete Seeger?

Until recently I didnt know that it was him who wrote so many famous songs: Where Have All the Flowers Gone, We Shall Overcome, If I Had a Hammer, Turn! Turn! Turn!, AND This Land Is Your Land. If there was no Pete Seeger, can we scratch the hippy movement?

Personally I believe that this would be one of the worst realities ever. Most accomplished folk-singer ever.

You'd still have hippies and folk songs, they would just not be as popular or widespread. Seeger wrote- and covered- a wide variety of songs. Of course the folk song revival changed a lot of things, from popular music to politics to religion.

Wasn't This Land Is Your Land by Woody Guthrie? AFAIK Pete only played it - with all of Woody's original verses - at the pre-Obama inauguration concert with his grandson Tao and with Bruce Springsteen.
