What if Lt. Cmdr. "Butch" O'Hare is not lost in 1943

Just what the title says. What would likely had occurred if Lieutenant Commander (and Medal of Honor recipient) Edward "Butch" O'Hare's plane is not lost on a night mission from Enterprise in late 1943? he was already a group commander. Granted no likely difference to the war, but what about his career.

He probably goes very far (Thach became a four star admiral) providing he stays in the navy. Of course there is an even money chance he gets killed test flying an early model jet like Dick Bong and Wheaties Welch.

I guess Chicago's airport has a different name.
