What if Kingston, Ontario were Canada's national capital?

It's roughly equidistant between Toronto and Montreal Canada's two largest cities. More so than Ottawa which is a good deal closer to Montreal. Similar to how Canberra is centralized between Melbourne and Sydney,

Canberra is 291 km to Sydney and 677 km to Melbourne.

Kingston would largely develop as Ottawa OTL, much more bilingual than currently, and larger.

Unlikely to happen but if it did Kingston would be built in a more defensive manner in case of attack from just over the water which could lead to the world longest undefended land border becoming more militarized. Also unlike Ottawa with Hull just over the bridge there would not be Quebecois commuting to work there which could swing the yes vote in a Quebec Independence referendum.
