What if Japan, sometime after taking Manchuria, took stock and realized how difficult beating China could be, and that the Soviet’s, US, and Britain are all next to unbeatable without substantial help. They hesitantly decide that they need to be more patient for now. They still establish close relations with Germany and build a massive military again with most of the same figures involved.

When France is evidently falling, Japan is not at war with anyone and decides to join Germany, as they believe Britain will drop out soon and Japan can get easy gains from France, the Netherlands, and possibly even Britain. Similar to Italy.

If and when Germany decides to invade Russia, Japan joins the war and invaded from the East.


So, Japan acts more like Italy in regards to how it treats War with the major powers. Can Britain remain in the War with Japan also attacking, and how would America respond?
