That's the question. Would the US go to war over European colonies in Asia? And if so would it be a war in which our objective was unconditional surrender?
Maybe it will go to war, but certaintly not for unconditional surrender.
Though I think it depends a lot if Germany declares war on the US when the US goes to war with Japan or not.
If they do and the conference in which they agree on unconditional surrender still happens, then FDR might go "Well, I might as well go all out and demand this from Japan as well."
If the US fights only Japan, then they will likely fight until a negotiated settlement is reached.
Most likely in favor of the US, like Japan withdrawing from China and a few conquests. But I could see some scenarios in which the Japan wins, maybe if they capture large sums of US POWs and offer to exchange them for a free hand in China and removing the oil embargo.
