What if: James Monroe ran for a third term in 1824

Monroe was one of the most popular presidents in American history and precided over the era of good feelings. What if he ran for a third term in 1824 after realizing his party was collapsing. He was popular enough and the precedent of only two terms hadn’t really set in yet. Does he win and what happens to the future careers of John Quincy Adams, Jackson, and Henry Clay if they still decide to run?

The two-term precedent had set in, though. Both Jefferson and Madison said, IIRC, that they would not seek third terms because they wanted to follow the precedent set by Washington.

In any case, Clay and Jackson are both sure to challenge Monroe, and Adams and Crawford might do so as well. It would be an even bigger free-for-all than it was IOTL.
