What if Hitler pursued a long-term alliance with Stalin's Russia?

Erhabenheiten

What would have happened? What would a post-war world look like?

It flat out isn't going to happen unless you have some major changes in one of the two players, in particular Hitler.

What if the Nazi-Soviet alliance had lasted? The West would have had a serious problem on its hands. Let's all give thanks to our respective deities that Hitler was too crazy, aggressive and paranoid (being continuously spun out on dope may have contributed to this condition) to comprehend that Stalin was the best friend he could ever hope to have.

Hitler did try to entice Stalin into Russia being an active participant in the war, rather than a friendly neutral to Germany. But Hitler was driven mad, by Russian demands for territory between the two countries - which would for example compromise Germany's access to Romanian oil. Hence, Luftwaffe advisors were sent - to assist with air defence; much to the annoyance of the Russians!

You probably end up with a three way cold war with America, Nazi Germany (with most of central and western europe) and the USSR.
I don't believe in this "3-way Cold War" thingy. "USSR vs. everyone else" is more likely. If USA could befriend Mao as soon as he became anti-Soviet, there's nothing to prevent Nazi and America working mano-a-mano.
