What if: Hitler is assasinated before WW2

What would happen if Hitler and some other high ranking Nazi party members were assasinated in 1938? How would the timing impact the reaction to the assasination, and do you think 1938 were a likely year for a assasination to take place?

Who would be the likely suspects for the assasination plot? Some suggestions below:
- Austrian seperatist
- Communists
- Czech nationalists
- Slovak nationalists
- Jews
- Nazi party competitor
- Germany army
- Soviet Union
- France
- Democracy activist

Would Germany or the Nazi party gain sympathy internally in Germany and/or externally? Who would be most likely to take power after a succesfull assasination of many of the top Nazi party members? Might Germany in the aftermath get closer ties with western countries or the oppostite? Would Democracy return to Germany? Would Germany Could WW2 be prevented by such a assasination.
