In 1783 Edmund Burke and Charles Fox introduced a bill to greatly scale back the EIC's administrative roll in India. Notably, Burke was also concerned about the welfare of Indians and wanted to end the EIC's trading monopoly also. The bill collapsed after George III announced he would consider anyone voting for it an enemy.
But what if he had a bout of his madness during this time? Could we stop the drain of Bengal's wealth? Would the British territory in India expand into the Maratha Confederacy?
