There is a great POD in the year 1920 - elements among the Republican Party tried to get Pershing elected as president but he refused to actively campaign, merely saying he would serve if he was elected.

So, what if he did actively campaign and he got a party nod? If not the Republicans, who mistrusted his relationship with Wilson despite him being a party member, then maybe the Democrats by some odd chance?

A. Could Pershing become president? I'm not sure WWI was considered all that popular, it certainly had negative social impact even on the Entente countries, and he simultaneously probably was disliked by integrationists for bowing to Wilson's segregationist policies while at the same time was scorned by segregationists for his support of African-American combat units.

B. Would he make a good president?
