What if Edward I dies in 1291

As the title says, what if, for whatever reason Edward I dies in 1291, how does this changes thins? obviously his son Edward II becomes King, but who rules in his name, what does this change in regards to Gascony and relations with France?

Also, how does this influence the selection of a new Scottish king? Does Balliol still get it, or does Bruce?

Well, Edmund Crouchback is still alive. And he did remain rather steadfastly loyal to his bother. He is the senior peer being Edwards younger brother, but he is also the uncle of Edward II.

It is roughly 5 years before his dead,

Aye very true, so what happens in Gascony, do the English lose it? What happens to the great cause?
