What if Cincinnatus declared himself Dictator-For-Life?

Cincinnatus.jpg

As it says, what if Cincinnatus declared himself after quelling Spurius Maelius' conspiricy in 439 BC? (Second term as dictator)

What would be the short and long term effects for Rome and Roman history?

Given that Squrius Maelius was accused for wanting to set himself up for kingship, and Dictator-for-life effectively is the same, he would likely archive little more than either being assassinated, or accused for wanting to set himself up for kingship and taken down that way, likely defamed as having had a stroke of some kind as its very much against everything he stod for. That said, it would likely be used as a attempted levage for the Plebians to become the stronger party, earlier

First one would have to assume everything about this period in Roman history is more fact than legend and that Cincinnatus was not just an amalgamation of multiple people (one of which being a legitimate Cincinnatus).

I've never heard someone take that position before..

Is there an actual arguement against the existence of Cinncinatus?
