Silly title perhaps, but that cold ended his life, and with it almost the Kalmar union.

A lot of people see the Kalmar union as basically having ended in all but name after the Engelbrekt rebellion, but Christopher did look like he was getting things back into control.

He was a veteran commander, who adeptly dealt with many rebellions that had erupted before his coronation. He dealt with many political enemies through savvy diplomacy. He reformed the swedish legal system drastically.

A skilles commander, diplomat and legal reformer, those are the traits of most great kings. In addition, it really seems like he was intent on strengthening unity in the Kalmar union, his wedding with Dorothea of Brandenburg was a truly all-scandinavian affair for example.

With his untimely death in 1448 all unity was lost as the nobility divided on who should succeed him. But what if he had survived until old age?

Would he have repeated the same mistakes of many danish kings and spent the treasury on wars in northern Germany?

Would he have been able to deal with Karl Knutsson Bonde more effectively than Christian of Oldenburg?

How would his family ties with the Wittelsbach's affect his succesors?
