What if Christianity never came into it's own identity?

During the life of Jesus and the period immediately after his death, Christianity never had it's own identity. It was a cult within Judaism. They still practiced Jewish traditions including circumcision, although they followed the teachings of Christ at the same time.

This period of non-identity ended with Saint Paul of Tarsus, who broke Christianity out of Judaism and gave it it's own identity with it's own traditions and teachings.

But what if Saint Paul either never converted to Christianity or was never born, resulting in Christianity remaining a relatively unknown Jewish cult?
