I don't know this "Western Way of Warfare" mentality and it sounds BS. But I do recognize what OP states about Chiang ignoring the Japanese and hoarding up American weapons for the final showdown with the commies as this is what history books often states.

But assuming the above link is true and Chiang does take the Japanese headon rather than avoiding battles, how does this change the Sino War?
