What if Chiang Kai Shek actually fought the Japanese head on instead of avoiding them?

Chiangdid spend some of his better forces - in Shanghai, where they were overcome, and in Burma (although, that have been handled much better).
I don't know about Burma, but Shanghai was different. Shanghai had the specific purpose of showing the world that China could hold it's own.

It is just a shame that so many other countries left China out on the limb after that attack and allowed Japan to continue to gobble up the Chinese coastal cities.
 
Plus Stillwells fuckup of the 1942 campaign shouldve said to the whole world that he couldnt lead an army, a group of men and commandoes yes. An army? Nope.

Instead that little fricker gets his ass kissed by all while forgetting he did not lead an orderly retreat.
