What if Casino Royale '67 was made as a serious film?

Slim Pickens as a Le Chiffre henchman. But
who's going to play M? Wait- as I said in my
first post in this thread- what about Honor
Blackman?

But we are drifting now from what the OP had in mind- making CR as a serious film...

Sorry. The original release of Casino Royale was in 1954, on American TV, with Barry Nelson as Jimmy Bond, and Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre. Serious enough I was rooting for Peter Lorre.

Honor Blackman is Pussy. Slim Pickens can play Q, if he supplies Bond with a Cracker Jack compass. His scene in 1942 always breaks me up.

I have a VHS tape of that Casino Royale sitting on a table next to me. Haven't watched it, don't know if my VHS player still works. I ought to bring it back to my dad this Christmas.

Don't put the tape in. You'll be sorry. Just google it on youtube. I moved a couple months ago and filled up 6 garbage bags with tapes. I now own 11 cassettes of my grandbabies growing up, sitting in a box.

Oh man, Slim Pickens as Q would be far, far
out! That's a great idea Just Leo!!! (as long
as he doesn't say to Bond "a fella could have
a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all this
stuff")

The producers of Casino Royale decided to do a comedy when Connery Turn them down.
The only way to stop that would be change his experiences on the latter Bond Films so he was willing to do more Bond.
If that happen then we would be more likely to see Connery stay with the main series.
I love the idea of Connery doing "On Her Majesty Secret Service".

But there are many ways to improve Casino Royale. The film had at least 4 directors, and multiple writers.
Getting a Good Director and keeping him would help, and coming up with a solid script before the shooting started.

I had planned to do a alternate "Casino Royale" for a Time line called "Step by Step".
Sadly I had to stop writing it before I got to Bond.
In the Timeline, I had planned that Casino Royale started and then was stop by the Studio earlier.
A new Director Blake Edward comes in and get Leigh Brackett to do a Script.
Brackett combine Ian Fleming Novel with element from Robert Sheckley Novel's "Game of X".
Sheckey Book deal with a non agent who is enlisted as a Spy and how despite lacking Training end up saving the Day.

Just keep Barbara Bouchet in it and you can do what you like.

Amen neonduke-as long as- as I said I'm my
first post on this thread- we keep Joanna
Pettet in too! Perhaps BB could play Vesper?
(Who would strictly be a fellow agent of JP
who of course is actually a traitor- IOTL in
1967 main-stream audiences would never
have accepted a gay-themed spy movie)
