what if canada... (four diffenet scenarios)

Canada gains the north east down to Northern Virginia, and Western Virginia. the majority of the west coast

either after
1) the revolutionary war
2) the war of 1812
3) the civil war
4) Seven Years' War

would Vermont remain a republic?
what would happen to maine?
would new york still be the hub that is is today?
would dutch french spanish and engilsh colonies still be colonies?
would this change africa? or chinia?

It's unlikely in any of these scenarios that OTL's American North would be subsumed into Canada, due to the fact that (if nothing more) Canada has always been smaller in population. And, since there was no Canada uniting Quebec and Nova Scotia until 1867, such a Yankee-Canadian union would be the first country ever to contain Canada as we know it. It wouldn't be Canada, but a United States that happens to include Quebec.

Canada as a COUNTRY was created in 1867 by the joining of Quebec, Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Prior to that Canada had existed as the colonies of Upper and Lower Canada. Having said that, this scenario would require Britain to seriously bitch slap the United States.
