What if British got Sumatra, and Dutch got all Borneo in 19th century?

Would it be real hard for this to happen? Could it be brought about simply by different details in the first Anglo-Dutch treaty after the Napoleonic Wars, or through PoDs later in the century.

What's the impact if any, beyond a probability of similar border lines being carried forward for post-colonial Malayasia and Indonesia?

It shouldn't be too hard, just simply alter the Anglo Dutch Treaties of 1824 or 1870-71.

The hard part is making sure adventurers and private companies stay with the rule. James Brooke easily comes to mind, but there was also Celso Cesare Moreno (Italian who courted Aceh) or Joseph William Torrey (American who wanted a base in Sabah) or Baron Von Overbeck (Austro-Hungarian Consul to Hong Kong who got a lease from Sulu over Sabah).

Any one of them could overturn the treaties or ignore it for their own nation's interests. You'd need to keep both Singapore and Batavia on their toes to prevent that, and that's easier said than done.
