What if the British Isles unite some time after the Norman Invasion (with or without Ireland), and then become isolationist, staying out of European affairs and avoiding conflict? What impact would that have on Europe, and what would happen to the Isles?

Asking because I have become curious after in several games of EU4 with Extended Timeline, several other players in my game have tried "being isolationist" as a fully united Great Britain. They usually got bored and started trying to be interventionist/involved in Europe/Colonialism, or they were invaded, usually by a country(player-led) who was able to prepare to do so due to British Isolationism ignoring them.
