What if - Baltasar Carlos of Spain dies of appendicitis in 1650

In short - what if the only surviving son of Felipe IV of Spain from his first marriage meets his intestinal disorder of doom a little bit later - namely after marriage to Marianna of Austria circa 1648 and the birth of first child, *Margarita-Theresa, in 1649?
Who will Felipe IV remarry now than the Dowager Princess of Asturias is off the cards? Will he go for le grand cliche of Le Grand Mademoiselle? Or somebody else?

Why is Marianna off the table? If the Habsburgs could get a dispensation to marry nieces I'm sure they could get one for a daughter-in-law.

This will be for niece-and-daughter-in-law. Double creepy, so I thought with consummated marriage it would be difficult.

Just have Marianna die in childbirth.

Even if Philip re-marries, Margarita is still the heir and could become Margarita I of Spain. maybe Margarita could marry Karl Joseph of Austria if he survives infancy. That would be interesting.

Well Holy RomanEmperor Leopold I gets screwed over in a first wife.

Secondly, AFAIK a dispensation would/could not be granted, since in the view of the Church, Mariana is now Felipe's daughter, rather than his daughter-in-law. That said, the marriage to D. Baltasar has likewise been consummated (proved by the birth of Margarita? IDK if she'll be named that since OTL Margarita was named after Felipe's mother. She might be Isabel though), and for a dispensation to be granted would for all intents and purposes label her a bastard.

I think Felipe would do better marrying someone NOT related. La Grande Mademoiselle is a definite possibility. I think Velasco did a (now sadly dormant) tl called Prospero's Prosperity about her becoming queen of Spain as Felipe's 3e wife.

Other possibilities could be Eleonora Gonzaga, Margherita Violante of Savoy, Isabella d'Este or (unlikely) Joana/Catherine of Braganza

Unlikely. If Philip IV remarries and has a son then no doubt Margaret will be quietly disinherited or at least moved back in the succession line in favor of her uncle. Though most likely she'll be married to her Spanish uncle to ensure the succession isn't claimed by any other husband.

If Mariana ends up married to Baltasar Carlos, will that change her relationship with D. Juan José? Esp if D. Felipe IV's new marriage produces no heirs or only girls, and Mariana is still regent

Probably not. OTL the relationship was bad because of their rivalry over who would govern Spain (and I think partly Mariana was worried that D. Juan Jose would try a coup to become King, considering how sickly Carlos II was as a baby). As long as she becomes Regent still its bound to sower.

Well, TTL, perhaps because of Margarita's *better health, they become unlikely allies - the kind that will shoot you if they have a better option, but since you don't, you tolerate each other and hope for the best.
