What if Andrew Jackson died?

Andrew Jackson was the first president to have an attempt made on his life, it failed because the killer's guns misfired, what if they hadn't and he had killed jackson?

To start with, Martin van Buren would have been sworn in two years prior to OTL, and he likely would have won re-election in 1836.

Having served six years, it's perfectly conceivable he forgoes running in 1840. Maybe then he's seen as less of a failure, and has more political influence latter on -- this would have an interesting effect on the debates over slavery...
