What if all of the monolatristic religions died out?

What if all of the monolatristic religions died out, and the main religions of the world were henotheistic and Polytheistic in nature.

What do you mean?

Sorry, that line doesn't translate well, does it? I mean, why? It is a very different thing culturally if all monotheistic faiths simply lose adherents to the point of dwindling away (unlikely) or whether they are actively persecuted and discouraged (not likely, either, but more effective).

Christianity not getting hijacked by the Romans (and thus not a huge amount of widespread but nominal Christianity) I can take, but I can't see it dying out.

Christianity, Islam, and Judaism aren't Monolatric, though, AFAIK all three acknowledge the existence of one god. No others exist.

The only things I can think of that fit the bill are some Hindu sects like Lingayat or related Shiva-worship..... but I dunno. No more Lingayat would not have a huge effect, I don't think.

You could have Judaism stay henotheistic which alot of evidence suggests it was in the beginning. As for affects, to big to say really.

And rcduggan is right about the modern monotheistic religions not being monolatric.
