What if Adolf Hitler develops Foreign Accent Syndrome

He OTL used a strange accent. A Swedish linguist (Gösta Bergman, I think) commented that he did not use his real rural accent but had invented an artificial new accent that was more powerful and energetic (or something, I do not remember where I read that) .

Since he was already in power I'm guessing probably not.
He only became Chancellor in January 1933 and Führer later again , IIRC after the death of Hindenburg.

But if he actually succeed to power with a funny accent it will make a TV series like "Allo Allo" superflous or at least very different, as the OTL Germans already spoke with funny accents...

;)

Did the Jewish Germans have a pronounced accent when they talked in German?

Would be interesting if Adolf had a Jewish accent after his accident.

He was too major of a force in politics by then to be kept out of power unless he somehow died from assassination or a freak accident. POD's got to be earlier.

By January 1932 Hitler was till far from power. In the last election in 1930 the nazis had got 18,25% of the votes and if the Nazis in the July 1932 election will field a leader suddenly having a "funny" accent they will not get the OTL 37% of the vote (and biggest party). In the November 1932 election the nazi vote dropped to 33% and there were even attempts in the nazi party to bypass Hitler in a conservative coalition. Hitler succeeded in eliminating his rivals but in an ATL like this his creditability is most likely too weakened to stay in power himself. After all Hitler's rise to power was very much based on his oral talents - if that suddenly goes on in a "funny" accent it will be like Arnold Schwarzenegger playing Terminator with a beer belly, but no hair or teeth...

i always thought that "the little annoying Austrian" had already suffers from Foreign Accent Syndrome...

According Wikipedia Germany, the FAS start with muteness follow regain talking, but with differs articulation that listener interpret as foreign accent.

But with a Bristolian accent, His career could end up in Minehead near Bristol

I imagine IOTL Hitler must have had an Austrian accent that many Germans found aggravating. It would be akin to a West Country English (Cornish) speaker becoming the leader of Texas, where the dialect is so different.

German isn't my first language, not even my second, so I'll in no way claim to be an expert on German accents but I'll claim that the German Hitler spoke was far from what usually is/was spoken in Austria (which is similar to Bavarian dialect). Perhaps a little "scent" of a southern accent, but not more.
