What if Abraham Lincoln had lived?

you all seem to think that the only punishments are to the leaders but you forget the military occupation and destruction of farms, railroads, and other improvements coupled with the uncompensated lose of primary workers crippled the south along with the corporations being discouraged to open factories down south.

There was no destruction of farms, railroads, or other improvements during Reconstruction.

I love that "uncompensated loss of primary workers" phrase. Here repeat after me...It was called slavery. It was very bad. It deserved to go. The only people screwed out of compensation were the slaves.

I'm always baffled as to why, Lincoln, a man with the intelligence and management skills to bring the Civil War to a successful close, prevent European intervention and work with a wide variety of jackholes would suddenly become unable to reach a few compromises with the rather likeminded individuals in Congress. I'm betting on a more successful Reconstruction with equal rights jammed down Southern throats albeit with a healthy dose of sugar to ease the sour taste.

Then we probably wouldn't have this little momento from the Spanish Civil War.
