To all those who have a good grasp of 19th Century Spanish History, what happens if the young Isabella is overthrown by her uncle during the First Carlist War?
Let's say the point of divergence is the survival of General Tomás de Zumalacárregui. With an extremely skilled commander by his side, Carlos de Borbón enters Madrid and claims the crown of Spain as Carlos V around 1836.
The questions I have:
Where would Isabella flee too? The Liberals were supported in their war by the British and the French, so would she and her mother go to either country?
What happens to the military officers who fought for the Liberals?
How supportive were the overseas territories/the navy of Carlos?
Is there any possibility of the Philippines/Cuba falling to a foreign power soon after a Carlist victory?
