What happens if a Shia Iranian dynasty takes over Bagdad before the Mongol invasion?

What a large title. Well, as we know the main center of islamic scholarship was the great library in bagdad, held by the abbasid iraqis that followed the sunny branch of islam. Iran had a lot of trouble between sunnis, shias and zoroastrians, but at the end the shias became the majority. Based on that I want to ask something: What is the most likely outcome to the library and the city of shia persians capture Bagdad? In OTL the closest (AFAIK) that the persians came to take the city was during a saffarid campaign and it was repelled. Even if they marched on the city the Saffarids were sunnis so they most likely would absorb the abbasids as tributaries and leave the city as it.

I want to make clear that I'm not expecting that the shias would do something bad to the city, I only expect minor changes like they replacing sunni scholarship with shia one, or maybe not even that. I just want to know your opinion on the subject because I'm just too unliterate on it...

Shia Iranians did capture Baghdad IOTL, in 935, under the Buyid dynasty, and basically ran the place, as very nominal "representatives" of the Abbasid Caliphs, for the subsequent century. Not much seems to have happened to the library in this period, it appears to have remained active even if centres of culture were more dispersed than they had been at the Abbasid heyday.
However, while the Buyids were Shi'as, the majority of Iranians at the time were not. Iran only had a large Shi'a majority from the sixteenth century onwards.

Persia was largely Sunni since the Muslim Conquest. From what I know of course... They turned into Twelver Shiism from Sunnism, Ismaili and Zaydi Shiism and Zoroastrianism. So... I personally would say it is hard to get a Shia Persian State unless some Zaydi or Ismaili faction takes over Iran while the Seljuks are wrecked and there is a Power Vacuum. At best I could say, there is no telling what would happen to Baghdad if the new Shia Persians conquer Baghdad. That is up to there nature. The Buyids let the Abbasids rule as vassals. So it can differ between Buyid style rule or Safavid style purge. Depending on that, the Sunnis of Baghdad and the Caliph may back the Mongolians if they hit Baghdad. That is, if the Mongols feel like invading Persia with the absence of the Khwarazmians in Persia.
