What happened to this section

According to the description, this section is for the discussion and review of "published" books, film, games, etc. Over the years I've been on this board, it has been graduallytransformed into a section that is now dominated by discussion of member-created concepts, maps, flags, joint TLs, etc that often have little or nothing to do with published works. I like the member-created stuff, but it seems there are already places where this can go. Is there any way this can be fixed or am I just a curmudgeonly old fart?

Everything changes: the lesson of history.

Well Ian stickied the Maps and Flags threads, and they are both forms of media. And people still talk about books and movies here.

I like the forum, but I do agree that it certainly is not what is advertised on the tin, unless "media" encompasses nearly everything

If you think about it, it technically does.

No, what we're looking at here, though, is basically just a large-scale version of what happens in most any thread or discussion.

Ever started talking about the economy and, hours later, be trying desperately to remember the name of the first Pink power ranger so you can get the joke your friend just told?

Same basic principle.

Um... methinks it is just too cluttered with the 4(7) threads concerning OTL maps, the NEW OTL maps, the Blank Maps, the Base Maps and the Fan-Made-Maps Thread.... its just too much. Nevermind the other stickied items and such. Some AH features are discussed, be they Timelines published here (though usually those are in their own respective TL-discussion threads) or elsewhere, but I do agree they are a minority...

But then, AH material in general is a smaller, sort of fringe genre.

Yeah but I don't want to live in a world where the Pink Power Ranger's name is easily remembered

This thread needs more off-topic Nazi walrus rape.

Kinda funny you say that, because I've noticed that a lot of the transsexual nazi rape talk comes from a lot of the more ripened members (Abdul, Douglas and the like). It leads me to believe that perhaps Nazi walrus rape isn't so new on this site.

I'm part of the Fucked Up Trio (TM) so it is my DUTY to talk about Nazi beastiality.
