What happened here?

Central America/Cuba- holy crap that's an Ameriwank! But why is Mexico so fragmented?

You also have British Honduras, all the colonies in Guiana (British Guiana, French Guiana and Suriname), and a Dominion of Newfoundland. That could be explained by the date of the map, or a slight POD for a different Newfoundland referendum.

Is that an independent Alaska? What the hell?

Do the colour schemes mean anything? Is your uber-USA communist, or did you just pick red? And is Alaska part of a country other than the UK, USA, Canada or Russia (Japan perhaps?), or is it actually independent?

POD in the 1840s- uber-Manifest destiny, Mexican War results in annexation of Mexico, William Walker Nicaragua, plantation Cuba, etc. Only British Honduras escapes the tide of annexations which stops at Colombia.

America has its hands full with all these colonies, so Seward doesn't buy Alaska. Instead, it goes independent in the RCW, and is settled by exiled White Russians.

I won't try and explain why the US is red, as I don't know if you mean anything by it.

As for the colonies- again, date of map or butterflies.
