What Gear Wouldn't Exist Without The Vietnam War?

War is a great teacher. Ideas get tried out. Things are learned. Perceptions are shattered.
I keep reading about weapons systems that came about because of things learned in Vietnam.

For example, the A-10 came about because of experiences re close air support during the Vietnam War.

What other weapons systems wouldn't exist if not for Vietnam?

Interceptor body armor evolved from the flak vests used in the 60s. 40mm grenade launchers, the M-16 (debatable if that was for good or ill), light weight communications gear (relative term), starlight scopes. That's just off the top of my head.

Not gear, but Red Flag and Top Gun wouldn't exist without Vietnam and the Red Baron I & II and Ault reports.

Deet - Powerful insect repellent
LRRP Rations - Freeze dried food. Yes it was invented for NASA but productized for use by Long Range Recon Patrols (LRRPs)

What about the sensors for the Igloo White line?

Or improved RPVs/drones?

There were also mine-resistant boots & leggings. And, IIRC, improved infantry helmets. Not to mention helicopter crew helmets.

Nor would the AH-1 exist. Maybe even the UH-1 wouldn't... OTOH, the Cheyenne might.

And it's virtually certain Aircav wouldn't.
